There’s no Noodles & Company in Canada, so it was completely new to me when I moved to Richmond back in 2011. I’d driven by a few times, reluctant to try a quick-service pasta place. One day, it was nearby and I was starving, so I took the plunge. Reviewing the menu, I was surprised by the diversity of the offerings!
It didn’t take long before I introduced it to the rest of my family, with my favorite being the Indonesian Peanut Sauté. I was completely crushed, though, when they decided to remove the item a few years ago. Fortunately, the Spicy Korean Beef Noodles give me that heat and have quickly become near and dear to my heart.
Healthy & Delicious
What’s great about Noodles & Company is that, with such a broad menu, there’s a little something for everyone. Everything is cooked to order (although lately, Josh has been leaving all the veggies in his dishes), it’s prepared fresh, and never sits under a heat lamp or in a microwave.
Keeping with the freshness, Noodles & Company preps 14 different vegetables every day, along with their new spiralized zucchini “noodles.” Plus, they only use cage-free eggs; antibiotic-free, hormone-free pork and bacon; and NO artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, or preservatives in their kitchen. YES!
Caleb’s First Hangout
When we decided to take Caleb out of the house on a trio date for the first time, we picked Noodles & Company. He’s a bit of a picky eater and doesn’t eat meat, but we were hoping he’d like the macaroni and cheese. Turns out, it was love at first bite!
Whenever he needs a break from the twins or he knows we’re taking him out somewhere, the first thing he says is, “I wanna go to Noodles!”
What’s perfect for us is that he’s still young enough that ordering a side of mac and cheese is plenty for him. With their Rewards program, we sometimes receive a code for a complimentary side so his meal ends up being free!
These days, Josh and I stick to water or unsweetened tea. We do grab an Honest brand apple juice box for Caleb almost every time, though! He really loves sitting in a booth and watching the people go. In fact, that’s exactly what he did on his third birthday!
What We Order
We’ve tried many things on the menu, but we keep coming back to the same few items. For example, we really like the potstickers as an appetizer (under Shareables on the menu). They are flatter than what you’d get anywhere else, but they come with a yummy dipping sauce. If I’m splurging on carbs, this is always worth it.
Josh seems to rotate between the Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, Penne Rosa, or Alfredo MontAmore with Parmesan Crusted Chicken added to whichever entree he chooses. A creature of habit, I only order the Spicy Korean Beef Noodles these days. When I go to Noodles & Company, this is what I’m craving, so why fight it!?
To complete our meal, we often grab one of their giant Rice Krispie treats and split it three ways. They’re really good, always taste fresh, and I can remember a time when I’d eat the whole thing myself. These days, a third is more than enough.
Best of all, no matter where you go in the country, Noodles & Company tastes the same. For a restaurant serving organic, fresh food, that’s remarkable. We’re just grateful to have found a place that we all can enjoy together as a family. Caleb’s little face lights up every time he sits down and that means more than everything.
