Back in Richmond, we enjoyed outdoor yoga classes. It was so great to be out in the fresh air, stretching out our bodies. It was even better for our mental health. When we do regular yoga, our anxiety symptoms are much easier to manage. Earlier this year, it was cool to practice on the famous blue turf at Boise State University! Now that we’re in Idaho, we’ve definitely had our eyes peeled for opportunities to do yoga in the open air!
When Josh found out about Idaho Yoga Week, we were surprised and happy. We use yoga as a natural remedy for anxiety, and with six kids, we needed a break! Even though I’ve had back-to-back pregnancies and the twins aren’t even a year old yet, I’ve been wanting to get my stretch on! We’ve gone to studios and, of course, done some yoga in the house, but there’s something magical about being outside!
Idaho Yoga Week 2017
During Idaho Yoga Week, nearly 40 free yoga classes will be available in yoga studios across the Boise area. That’s pretty amazing! The closing ceremony will consist of a Celebration Circle at JUMP featuring a beginner-friendly class that is open to all!
We decided to get in on the action and headed down to a class. Located on the green space right in front of the Idaho Capitol building, the setting was glorious. It was a bit windy (okay, there was a huge wind storm right at the end that made everyone scatter), but overall it was a lovely experience. It was a nice way to work on our bodies and release some tension.
The turnout was amazing, the equipment worked beautifully (we could clearly hear the instructor!), and until that crazy wind picked up, the weather was perfect. Just enough sun to feel warm and relaxed, with a gentle breeze to help let go of negative energy and stay cool.
We’re hoping to take advantage of similar classes in the area as they are announced. It was such a gentle and soul-soothing way to take a break from the chaos that can rule our household. Still, we were pretty happy to walk in and see those smiling faces!
