In honor of April 20, also known as 4/20, Ben & Jerry’s brought the Chill-aco to their Scoop Shops across the country. With a shell made from a chilled waffle cone and filled with ice cream, the creamy dessert is exactly what it sounds like — a sweet taco!
Of course, Josh could never miss an opportunity to sample something like that. He’s always been a lover of ice cream, but following our Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour with Caleb back in 2015, we’ve both had a newfound appreciation for the company.
What We Ordered
With little Caleb in tow, we headed downtown to our local Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop to check out the action. To our surprise, it was pretty quiet in there. Having this ice cream adventure again as a trio was fun, although Caleb seemed a little confused by his daddy’s excitement (me too!).
For my Ben & Jerry’s Chill-aco, I kept things relatively simple. I filled my waffle cone with a scoop of vanilla, a scoop of Strawberry Cheesequake, and a drizzle of caramel sauce. I’m not big on sugary treats, but I am a sucker for a good waffle cone. Despite my hesitation at the gluttony, I have to admit I really enjoyed my ice cream taco!
If you’re a regular reader, you’ve probably already guessed that Josh went full-throttle with his Chill-aco. He heaped on his favorite Ben & Jerry’s flavor, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and had her top the monstrosity with both chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Did he love it? You betcha, and that’s all that matters, right?
We sat outside in the sunshine and chowed down on our Chill-aco’s, giving Caleb spoonfuls from each of ours. Sure, it was a little indulgent, but we made some memories that afternoon and that makes me happy.
