Whether we’re at home or traveling the world, we sometimes struggle with sleeplessness. Nothing is worse than tossing and turning when you need a good night’s sleep! After a long-haul flight, a little melatonin can go a long way. For regular everyday life, though, we use these essential oil combinations for sleep that actually work!
Essential Oil Blends for Sleep
If you’ve read our article about the Best Essential Oils for Anxiety, you’ll see that many of those will work for insomnia. We firmly believe in creating a natural medicine cabinet for managing our health. If you’re into that, here are some of the best essential oils for sleep that we use regularly.
- Lavender
- Bergamot
- Cedarwood
- Vetiver
- Sweet Orange
- Marjoram
- Roman Chamomile
- Frankincense
- Patchouli
- Clary Sage
- Ylang ylang
- Good Sleep Blend
- Dream Blend
Typically, small bottles of essential oils cost between $5 and $20. It may seem like a bit of an investment, especially at first, but that’s a relatively low price to pay for relief. Plus, the bottles last FOREVER! If you’re using just a few drops a night, that $8 bottle of oil will last a while.
Diffusers for Essential Oils
There are many ways to use essential oils, but for the purposes of this post, we’ll focus on using a diffuser. If you’ve never used one before, don’t worry — it’s super easy! You’ll need to fill yours with water up until the line indicated on your model. Be sure to read the manual for specific instructions. Then, add your essential oils and let those calming scents work their magic!
We have several types in our home that we use with these essential oil combinations for sleep. What you choose will be determined by your personal needs and style. Have some fun with it, and choose one that makes you feel happy!
Wood Style Diffuser
The diffuser we use most (and keep on our bedside table) is this wood style one. It’s compact, but powerful enough to fill our good-sized bedroom with soothing aromatherapy. When we’ve traveled, we’ve packed this in our carry-on luggage without any problems.
Patterned Diffuser
We don’t have this one, but our oldest daughter does! She really likes it, and I think it adds a little style to her apartment. It’s a little bohemian chic, right? Maybe I should get this one, too! Again, it’s got a small footprint, which is great for small living spaces!
Stone Diffusers
This diffuser is bigger and heavier than the previous models I’ve shared. We use this one in the kitchen because it’s sturdier and can take a bit of a beating. We use it during cold and flu season in common areas to diffuse germ-fighting blends like OnGuard. You can also spread the cheer of the holiday season with scents such as cinnamon or even pumpkin pie!
Plastic Diffusers
We bought this exact diffuser in 2016 after our twins were born. It’s important to supervise the use of diffusers with children, but adding one to a child’s room can help them have a great sleep, too! These are inexpensive, durable, and a great option for kids or if you’re just starting to experiment with essential oils.
Remote Control Diffusers
We don’t have a diffuser with a remote control, but looking at this is making me want one! There have been many times when I’ve climbed into bed without turning on my diffuser, and this would come in handy. Plus, it’s really cute!
Moon and Stars Diffuser
I saw this diffuser on Etsy and thought it was just really cute. My younger daughter is really into BTS and their color is purple. Plus, they have a lot of songs about moons and stars, so this could be a fun birthday gift!
Glowing Moon Diffuser
Remember the daughter that I said has the patterned diffuser? She’s really into astronomy, and I feel like this would be a gorgeous addition to her room. It’s kind of like a nightlight and diffuser in one!
Glass and Bamboo Diffuser
Look at this gorgeous handmade diffuser. This is so elegant and lovely! It will have to wait until our youngest kids are a little older, but I think this would be perfect for misting essential oil diffuser combinations for sleep in our bedroom oasis.
Sleep Blends for Diffusers
Ready to get a good night’s rest? While we highly recommend creating a bedtime routine that includes limiting tech devices, practicing meditation and/or deep breathing exercises, and maybe even a little yoga, these sleep blends for diffusers can also help you drift off to dreamland.
